As Sharon Jaynes read an article from a quite well-known magazine with the title “Why You can Love Your Husband and Brad Pitt Too”, she saw how the world actually allowed women to fall for someone else other than their husband. The magazine, which was targeted for wives and mothers, said that “Infatuations offer a safe break from the marital routine. Everyday life is a bit humdrum, making it hard to maintain a passionate connection all the time…”

Several scriptures in the Bible seem to be hindering women in ministry or even in other aspects of life. However, Katharine Bushnell in her book “God’s Word to Women” breaks down some of the doctrinal and cultural biases in those scriptures. Different from the feminist movement, Bushnell believes that Bible is the inspired Word of God, she doesn’t wish to change anything written in it. But through much study of the Hebrew and Greek and the knowledge of the Word, and understanding of cultural settings, she believes that God has certain concerns about the role of women, and He also has plan for women in the church.

Domestic violence is not today’s new issue. It has been existed for years, and according to CDC Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Survey in 2005 “1 of 4 women, in United States are victims of domestic violence at some point in their lives.

Please realize that in whatever circumstances you are facing right now, you should not focus to your problem only. Try to look beyond that; problems are always temporal and changing, but what is eternal will never change. Some people wish to live in a prefab life. They want a prefab marriage with prefab children, and have prefab friends. What’s the meaning of ‘prefab’ anyway? Prefab or prefabricated means ready-made. It is something made instantly for purchase and immediate use that pass only the minimal standard test. When it comes to enduring test, prefab things usually don’t meet the standard of quality. As it was made instantly, it will not last for a long time either.

Some people assemble their prefab lives from parts taken from other people’s lives. They buy books, magazines, see a movie, and copying what others say and do, and try to meet the standard of approval by those who are only looking at the outside. Living an authentic life requires sacrifice; it requires hard work, change and costs. It isn’t something you can buy; it is something you must live within. It can’t be assembled, but must be built. It is more than the need to become what you expect or dream of, but it’s more about letting God’s work in our live that will make you a better person.

It doesn’t mean that God will give us pointers on how we can do something better, because it’s not like something written in a magazine where you open certain page and read certain columns for tips about how to make living your life easier and more efficient. She was born with the name Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in 26 August 1910 in Skopje, Albania. Her father was a full of spirit man who was active in politics. Her mother was a wise lady who had strong character, full of discipline but kind. Agnes was raised in a Rome Catholic family. Her mother brought her children to join morning mass, taught them to pray and help people who are living in hardship. That was ‘the seed’ which grew in Agnes’ heart, that one day she made a radical decision to God, by becoming the bestfriend of the poorest.

By the age of 18 Agnes made a decision of becoming a nun to do missionary work in India, devoting her life to the poor. Agnes joined the order “Sister of Loreto”. On 6 January 1929 she arrived in India and four months later (23 May 1929) began her novitiate and changed her name to TERESA (a name of a French nun whom spent her short life in a monastery in Lisieux). On 24 May 1931 Sister Teresa took her religious vow, she was later assigned to Darjeeling, a town in the hill of Himalaya to teach at Loreto monastery school and help in a hospital. That was her provision before she devoted her whole life for the poor and needy. She was later moved to Entally, a slum village in the east side. After taking solemn vow at 14 May 1937, she was promoted to become the headmistress of St. Mary’s School.

After living for almost 19 years in the monastery environment as novitiate, Sister Teresa couldn’t stand seeing the contradiction between the living within and outside the monastery environment. Read more!
